Position: Driver Trainer
Location: Leeds
Joined: 2017
I have been in the Logistics arena since 2005 and started working for Walkers Transport in 2017, as a driver. My main responsibility was delivering/collecting customers’ pallets within a day’s drive of Leeds depot.
Through personal progression in 2011, I qualified as a DDA driving assessor, then completed my AET in September 2017. Completing the AET training has shown me how to use an inclusive teaching and learning approach to create a learning style that engages and motivates the people I train.
Although hard work, the qualifications have allowed me to further my career within Walkers and in August 2018 I was promoted to the position of Driver Trainer.
As a Driver Trainer, my main duties include driver inductions, on-road training and driver assessments, as well as holding an in-house CPC training session for all the Walkers drivers at both our Leeds and Manchester depots.
I would say the thing I enjoy the most about working at Walkers is being part of a friendly and open team. Every day is different, and I get to interact with such a varied group of people
